AROCK86 10 years ago #2. Pretty sure it's random. I've found several spawners in some mineshafts, and there were no chests near them. But I found plenty of chests in areas where there were no monsters at all. As for the spawners...honestly I'd recommend destroying the blue spider spawners. Those spiders can be brutal. .
